Mother of Pearl Inlay

Mother-of-pearl inlay is a traditional Levantine craft, typically used for intricate floral or arabesque motifs on furniture and objects. Artisans carve shallow grooves into wood and embed hand-cut pieces of mother-of-pearl, polishing them flush to create shimmering, decorative surfaces. In 2003, during a visit to Damascus, Nada Debs worked with local craftsmen to apply geometric patterns to mother-of-pearl inlay, bringing a contemporary perspective to this traditional craft. This became one of Nada Debs’ signature techniques and forms the foundation of the Classic Collection.
