Keeping it Together

Keeping it Together

We believe it is our way of #keepingittogether. After the destruction of the August 4th explosion, we chose not to renovate the space because we felt that we still need time to process the impact of what happened. Some of the pieces you see inside have been destroyed during the explosion. Others are objects that have been re-created out of the debris from our Studio space upstairs. We have used our craft techniques as a way of connecting the broken pieces. The Keepingittogether Bowl is created using the broken pieces of glass from the August 4 Beirut blast. We chose to recreate objects using our craft techniques as a way to transform our pain into hope.We believe it is our way of keepingittogether.

Patterns in Nature

Patterns in Nature

The universe of wood is vast. Studio Nada Debs and Story teller Salim Azzam look into the flawlessness of nature by observing how the fauna makes its home within the flora, replicating this marriage into luxury furniture. With the signature geometric patterns laid out in marquetry using walnut, oak and olive wood, along with a new craft technique developed by Debs, the collection results in a show of poetic synergy featuring birds, botany and narratives of nature. The collection reveals the many patterns in nature, from a full-fledged eco-system comprising of birds, insects and trees to the geometric patterns that we always use in our work as well as the beautiful patterns of the wood grains themselves.

Marquetry Mania

Marquetry Mania

MarquetryMania explores, once again, the handcrafted technique of parquetry by applying a playful yet powerful interpretation to it. Bypassing the expected, the collection comprises of home accessories and furniture with a softer edge. Applying linear forms onto rounded shapes breaks down the paradox and gives rise to a whole new interpretation of this Middle Eastern craft. Mania is conveyed by striking color combinations, bold shapes and raving mirror reflections.

Funquetry

Funquetry

A playful and contemporary interpretation of the traditional craft of parquetry. Strips of different coloured wood are inlaid to produce what’s known as a “mother”. In some pieces these are then sliced and shifted to create a break in the geometric pattern. In others, they are applied on to pleated wood. Our perception of these pieces changes as we move around them. All are handmade in Beirut using either American Walnut or bleached American Walnut as a base.

Summerland

Summerland

Inspired by vintage lounging, the Summerland collection is reminiscent of the heydays of Beirut. Mid-century design in Ash wood is crafted into furniture and accessories featuring woven straw. Pieces sit comfortably outdoors as they do indoors due to the sturdy nature of straw, which has been continuously used since ancient times with very little change in technique.

Rhythmic movement characterizes the Arabesque style. Whether it’s linear, interlacing or scrolling, the inspiration is drawn from the growth and infinite expansion of the cosmos.

Classic

The Classic Collection is the cornerstone of the boutique line and a model of the East & East design philosophy. It aspires to capture the boundlessness of Islamic geometry within the purity of Far Eastern minimalism.
